Indeed.Com Tips for Finding Work Quickly

Indeed.com provides various leads to job seekers. The website provides a list of job offers posted by recruiters on the Internet and the media. An outstanding feature of the website is that it is interactive and easy to use. The site allows two types of search, basic and advanced.

Basic Search

  • Open the browser and go to indeed.com
  • Enter the organization’s name or the title of a job in the field marked “what”
  • The search can be narrowed down by entering the state or city in the “where” field. This is not mandatory; the search will still have results even if this area is blank.
  •  Click on the “find jobs” tab to view current openings matching the criteria of the search.

Advanced search
In certain instances, search results can show too many openings making it difficult to go through the full list of job offers, as some may be irrelevant to the user’s profession. Individuals can set their search results to show only the relevant opportunities.

  • Open the browser and go to indeed.com
  • Open the “advanced search” link
  • Enter the details of the search. This option allows people to make a search using specific keywords, a specific word or even other words in a job title. Individuals can also search for posts that are specific to certain organizations.
  • Select the job type such as part-time, full-time, temporary, permanent, contract or internship. To view listing of specific companies, a person can exclude results of recruiting organizations.
  • Limit the search results to opportunities listed on job portals or company websites.
  • There is an option for selecting the desired distance from the job site for people searching for jobs within a certain area. For example, users can decide to view job listings only within 20 miles from a state, city or area they live in.
  • Open the “find jobs” link to view available opportunities.

There are a few things to note when making a search on Indeed.com. Always remember to narrow down a search using one or two parameters because the site will not show any results if the search parameters are too large. You are not required to fill out any or all fields in the advanced search query. Finally, this site is not case sensitive, so you are free to use upper and lower case letters without compromising search results.
